The Pi-eX Auction Market Index (Pi-eX AMI) shows that the current public auction market downturn started similarly to the 2015-2016 contraction but grew deeper in June 2020 due to the lasting challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

- The 2015-2016 contraction started after June 2015 and reached its bottom 20 months later in February 2017 before the market bounced back.

- The current downturn started after September 2018 and reached its bottom 21 months later in June 2020 before the market started a partial recovery.
